Baker City enjoys hot summers and cold winters, usually with plenty of snow.  Skiing is excellent at Ski Anthony Lakes, just 25 miles away via a scenic drive.

Summertime at Phillips Reservoir includes boating and camping and continuing for another 20 minutes brings you to historic Sumpter.
